Lightboxr - features

Choice of Photos per Page ↑top

You can show between 6 and 30 images on one page. This allows you to optimise the number of images shown for your monitor and mode of working.

Export HTML ↑top

When you have collected images, you can export them as (x)html. This allows you to generate “photo credit” pages which are useful when complying with the Creative Commons licensing requirements. You can also paste the (x)html into your own web authoring package.

Choice of Photo Sizes ↑top

You can choose three different sizes for the images in the gallery (each box can have a different setting). Using the smaller images can make page display much faster and allows you to see more images without scrolling.

Drag Drop Interface ↑top

You can drag and drop photos from the main picture area onto the boxes on the left of the page to add the images to those boxes. Dropping pictures on boxes with special meaning (i.e. rubbish or export) will initiate other functions.

Rate and Annotate Images ↑top

When you have added an image to your library (and/or to one your boxes) you can change the title of the image, the notes on the image and set a 1 to 5 star rating on the image. These changes are not reflected back at flickr and are intended to help you sort and organise the images.

User defined boxes ↑top

You can create new boxes (a bit like folders) and give them names so that you can place images in the boxes to organise them.

There is a search form in the top left corner of the Lightboxr window so you can start a new search at any time without having to navigate to a new page.

Import ↑top

You can import an image by pasting the url of the photo’s flickr page into the import box. You can also paste in whole chunks of html and Lightboxr will extract the image urls and import them. You can also upload an html file and have the flickr image urls extracted from that.

Picture Info ↑top

When you highlight an image in the gallery, information about the image is shown in the picture info pane. You can change and add some information to help you organise the photos.

Each picture holds links back to the flickr page it lives on and another link to the owner of the image.

Details Under Thumbnails ↑top

Each image shown in the main area can display the title, owner, date take, and license type. If you are viewing images in your library or one of the boxes it can also show the star rating your have assigned to it. You can choose which of these details are shown using the checkboxes in the picture info pane.

Library of images ↑top

Every image that you collect is added to the library. The library is a way of seeing all images you have collected regardless of which box or boxes they are in or whether they are in any boxes at all.

Sort Photos in Gallery ↑top

You can sort the photos in the gallery by many of the different attriibutes of the photos. You can also create a “manual” sort by dragging and dropping the images within the gallery.

Liquid Layout ↑top

Unlike many other gallery type web pages, the number of images across the page changes as you resize the browser window so that you can make best use of the screen space.
